GOLF COURSE PLAYING PRIVILEGES

AND RULES OF PLAY


The regular golf season at The Country Club extends from May 1 to October 1. These privileges and rules are in effect during the regular golf season and subject to some adjustment at the discretion of the Club Professional and the General Manager, but only provided the Member specifically requests a waiver of any particular rule or privilege in advance of the day of play. Outside of the regular golf season, the Club Professional and the General Manager have broad discretion to waive these rules. Failure to observe any of the rules set forth herein may result in fines or loss of playing privileges.



GOLF PRIVILEGES

• All Equity Members and qualifying members of their families are entitled to play golf on the golf course, subject to the rules set forth below. Qualifying family members include the Equity Member’s spouse and children of the Equity Member between the ages of 10 and 25, regardless of whether they reside in the Member’s home or are under the care and maintenance of the Member.
• The entire golf course and the practice range are closed on Mondays (except on Holidays) until 11:00 a.m., at which time nine holes will open for play at the discretion of the Golf Course Superintendent.
• Equity Members and Spouses of Equity Members: Equity Members may play any time except when tournaments or special events are scheduled. On Tuesdays play is commenced by shotgun start for Equity and Junior Members and their spouses and guests starting both at 8:30 a.m. and at 1:15 p.m. Spouses of Equity Members may play any time on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays; on Wednesdays and Thursdays before 11:00 a.m. or after 2:00 p.m.; on Saturdays after 12:00 noon; and on Sundays and Holidays after 9:30 a.m.
• For the purpose of golf privileges only, an Equity Member may designate his or her spouse as the “Equity Member” for a year. Such designation will remain in effect for an entire calendar year but may be changed thereafter as the Equity Member may choose.
• A Single Member is defined as an unmarried owner of an Equity Membership. Each Single Member shall have the right to designate a person as a Significant Other on an annual basis or select to bring a guest eight times a year with no green fee charge. The option selected will remain in effect for an entire calendar year. A Significant Other designee shall be entitled to the same privileges of the
• Club as the spouse of a married Equity Member, except that a Significant Other will be charged a green fee at the family rate and must be in the company of the Single Member on the golf course and practice areas. A Significant Other designee may use non-golf facilities and services of the Club unaccompanied.
• Junior Members and Spouses of Junior Members: Playing privileges for Junior Members are the same as for Equity Members, except that on Sundays a Junior Member must tee off before 7:45 a.m. or after 1:30 p.m. On Wednesdays and Thursdays a Junior Member must tee off before 11:00 a.m. or after 2:00 p.m. On Saturdays they must tee off after 12:00 noon. On Holidays, a Junior Member must tee off after 1:30 p.m. unless they are involved in a club tournament. Spouses of Junior Members may play any time on
Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays; on Wednesdays and Thursdays before 11:00 a.m. or after 2:00 p.m.; on Saturdays after 12:00 noon; and on Sundays and Holidays after 1:30 p.m.
• Older Children (ages 16 to 25 inclusive): The older children of an Equity Member may play all day on Mondays and Fridays; on Tuesdays following the 1:15 p.m. shotgun; on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays after 2:00 p.m.
• Younger Children (ages 10 to 15 or 8 to 9 with a Junior Golf Certificate): The younger children of an Equity Member have the same golf course privileges as older children, except that they must be accompanied by an Equity Member or the spouse of an Equity Member at all times while on the golf course.
• All children must obtain a golf bag tag from the Golf Shop or the Club Administrative Office in order to play the golf course. The golf bag tag must be visibly attached to their golf bag when playing on the golf course. All children must register at the Golf Shop before playing golf or using the practice areas. A Junior Golf Certificate may be awarded by the Club Professional to a child of a Member in appropriate cases.
• Children under 8 years of age, accompanied or otherwise, shall not be allowed on the golf course or the practice areas at any time.
• The Holidays referred to as having restricted playing privileges are Memorial Day, July 4, July 24, and Labor Day.
• The practice range is strictly limited to golfers who are entitled to the playing privileges of the golf course. Members’ children can use the practice areas only during times when they are allowed to play the golf course. No range balls are to be removed from the practice range. 


GUEST PRIVILEGES

• Equity Members and Junior Members and spouses of such Members are permitted to invite guests to play the golf course with them.
• On Mondays guests are allowed all day except when events are conducted and when the golf course is closed for maintenance.
• On Tuesdays play is commenced by shotgun start both at 8:30 a.m. and at 1:15 p.m. Guests are welcome to play at either time.
• On Wednesdays guests are permitted before 11:00 a.m. and after 2:00 p.m.
• On Thursdays and Fridays guests are permitted all day.
• On Saturdays one guest per group is permitted before 12:00 noon.
• On Sundays guests are permitted after 10:00 a.m.
• On Holidays guests are permitted after 11:00 a.m.
• Tournament play takes precedence over the playing privileges of members and their guests.
• Members inviting guests must play with their guests the entire time their guests are on the golf course.
• The green fee for a guest playing 18 holes with a Member is $100.00 per round plus a cart fee and applicable taxes, and for a guest playing 9 holes with a Member is $50.00 per round plus a cart fee and applicable taxes. The green fee for a guest playing without a sponsoring Member is $275.00 per round plus a cart fee and applicable taxes. However, if a guest is a “family member” which is defined as a sibling, the spouse of a sibling, a parent, or a lineal descendant (or a lineal descendant’s spouse) of the Member or the Member’s spouse, a guest fee of $20.00 per round plus a cart fee and applicable taxes shall be charged.
• A guest is limited to playing six (6) times in any one calendar year. This includes guests playing as “family members.”
• Those rules relating to the hours when guests may play may be altered at the discretion of the Club Professional on days when there is relatively little play.

GROUP PLAYING PRIVILEGES

• Group parties of more than three foursomes (with a minimum of one Member in each group) must be approved by the Board of Directors or General Manager at least two weeks prior to the requested day of play.

RULES GOVERNING PLAY

• The Rules of Golf as approved by the United States Golf Association shall govern all play upon the golf course except where modified by local rules. Local rules are enumerated on the bulletin boards in the Golf Shop and both locker rooms.
• During the regular golf season the Golf Shop will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
• All players, including guests, must register in the Golf Shop before starting play. Permission must be granted by the starter in the Golf Shop to begin play on a hole other than hole number one.
• No more than four players shall be permitted to play the golf course in one group at any time unless specific permission is granted by the Club Professional. As a matter of courtesy, if there is an open hole in front of any playing group, that playing group should step aside and allow the following group to play through if the following group so desires.
• In order to avoid unnecessary delays to following groups, players should play only one ball off the tee and through the green.
• Practice of any kind must be strictly confined to the designated practice range and any other practice areas adjoining the golf course. Please do not practice on the golf course at any time.
• Members are responsible for damage to the golf course caused by themselves, their family members, or their guests.
• Divots on fairways and ball marks on greens must be repaired immediately. Sand and seed mix should be used as appropriate for all damage to all areas through the green.
• Bunkers must be raked smooth upon leaving them.
• Rakes should be left in bunkers.
• Members are allowed to walk the golf course any day of the week after 3:00 p.m. or, if they tee off before 8:00 a.m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
• Each player must have his or her own equipment and golf bag. Two or more players shall not be permitted to play out of one golf bag.
• Members are responsible for keeping track of their own golf clubs. The Club is not responsible for the loss or the disappearance of any golf clubs.
• Golf lessons can be taken on The Country Club property only from the Club Professional or his staff.
• The General Manager, his staff, and the Golf Course Superintendent shall have complete control over the decision to suspend play for any reason relating to weather or the condition of the turf or for any reason they deem necessary to protect the golf course.

RULES GOVERNING ATTIRE FOR GOLF COURSE AND PRACTICE AREAS

• Standard golf attire and footwear are required at all times.
• Men must wear collared shirts. Mock turtleneck shirts that are specifically designed as golf attire are acceptable.
• Men’s shirts must be tucked in at all times.
• Women may wear sleeveless shirts, but tank tops are not permitted.
• Hats worn on the golf course and other club facilities are to be worn with the bill facing forward.
• Only golf length shorts are acceptable.
• Denim and jeans are not permitted.
• Cargo pants are not permitted.
• Only golf footwear with soft spikes or no spikes are acceptable.

RULES GOVERNING OPERATION OF ELECTRICAL CARTS

• Red flag permits may be obtained by disabled golfers prior to playing the golf course. The qualifications to be issued a red flag permit are the same qualifications needed for the issuance of a disabled person’s license plate from the Department of Motor Vehicles of the State of Utah. A red flag permit may only be issued by the Board of Directors acting through the General Manager. Red flag permits allow holders to enjoy special privileges for the parking and operation of golf carts while on the golf course. A red flag permit holder may park his or her cart as close as fifteen feet from the putting greens or the tee boxes. Red flag permit holders have no special privileges when carts are restricted as directed by the Golf Course Superintendent to the cart paths during wet, cold or special course conditions.
• No one shall be allowed to operate golf carts unless he or she is of legal driving age.
• There are square posts placed on both sides of each fairway. Carts must not be driven on grass (fairway or rough) anywhere beyond the posts all the way to the next teeing ground.
• When driving or parking a golf cart on a cart path, please keep all four tires on the cart path whenever possible. This practice will avoid unsightly wear of the grass on the edges of the cart paths.

RULES GOVERNING HANDICAPS

• All handicaps published at The Country Club are established by the Utah Golf Association and are computed on the 1st and the 15th of each month.
• All golfers are encouraged to adhere to the USGA Handicap System with respect to recording every possible round of golf played.
• Failure to follow the USGA Handicap System could, at the discretion of the Golf Committee, result in an adjustment being made in to player’s handicap for tournament play.

GENERAL RULES

• The use of cellular telephones is prohibited on the golf course, all practice facilities, areas adjacent to the golf course, and areas immediately outside the Golf Shop and Clubhouse. However, the use of cellular telephones is permitted at any location where there is a hard-wired telephone line, which includes the Halfway House and the Golf Shop.
• Dogs and other pets are not allowed on Club property.
• It is requested that any discourtesies or infractions of these rules by Members or their guests or employees be reported to the General Manager, the Club Professional, or the Golf Committee.
• The Golf Committee welcomes Members’ suggestions regarding the betterment of the golf course and these privileges and rules.
